Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome : Cuisinart BFP-703CH Review

I love my Duet, hope it's reliable5
I have been shopping for a new Cuisinart BFP-703CH to replace my 1985 Osterizer, which has been leaving big chunks of ice in frozen drinks. I saw a really interesting consumer-oriented cooking show on the local PBS station one Saturday afternoon - they taste test their recipes on the public and test kitchen equipment. They had a test segment on blenders and claimed the fiftydollar Osterizer unit was the best, had the strongest motor and did a better job than even the hundredplusdollar blenders. I went out and bought one (actually, I got the Oster version of the Duet, with the blender and a food processor attachment). I quickly returned the Oster unit because 1) It could not a crush ice in frozen drinks and was actually worse than my 17 year old, worn out blender - it's pretty hard to suck a 3/4" ice rock up a straw; 2) Did not circulate thick liquids well unless stirred with a spoon through the hole in the top cover; 3) It was loud as heck; and 4) the food processor attachment was nearly useless because it was very small, only had a chopping blade and had no feeder - you unlatch the processor, empty out the one cup or so of chopped food, put more food inside, re-latch the processor lid and put back on the blender base.
After reading some of the reviews here, I was pretty much set on the similarly priced (one c-note) Kitchen Aid so I went to my local department store to look around and a bright and bubbly teenage sales clerk came up and asked me if I needed help. I almost said no (I can read the box myself) but instead decided not to exercise age discrimination and asked if she had any recommendations for blenders. Surprisingly, she said "Yes, I tested a bunch of them for a Christmas present for my dad a few months ago and the Cuisinart was definitely the best. It does the best job of crushing ice, is easy to clean up and my dad loves his!" Given that it came with a small food processor attachment for the same price as the Kitchen Aid and I had a 30 day return policy if I didn't like it, I decided to give it a shot. Here's my observations:
1) It blends great. It has as much power as you would ever need and frozen drinks come out smooth and frosty, they way they should. No more small icebergs clogging up the straws. You can dump a tray full of ice cubes into the blender, hit the "Ice Crusher" button, and it will give you a pitcher of finely crushed ice in about 30 seconds. Thick liquids still circulate well in the wide pitcher body.
2) It's quiet. I would say this blender puts out only about half the volume of noise that my old Oster unit or the newer one I returned did. Maybe there is a quieter unit on the market, but for the other reviewers complaining about the noise, I have to ask what they expect when blending ice cubes. No doubt, it makes more noise turning ice cubes into a liquid form than, say, a pot on the stove, but it is easily quiet enough to make a smoothie or margarita after midnight in an apartment without waking the neighbors.
3) The food processor works great. Sure it is smaller, at a 3-4 cup capacity, than the big 11 cup processors, but otherwise, it works exactly like its bigger brothers that made Cuisinart famous for the past several decades. I think the reviewer complaining about the processor must have had a few too many dacquiris or margaritas from his/her machine when he/she criticized this accessory. The feeding tube is a complete necessity for chopping more than a cup of food or using the grating and slicing blades (which work extremely well). So what if it sticks out a few inches? I used the processor to make hash browns for eight people for Easter brunch, and it did a great job of chopping the onions and shredding the potatoes; I did have to empty the moderately sized processor container twice while shredding the potatoes, but it only took about two minutes to turn eight medium-large potatoes into uniformly shredded hash browns.
4) It's easy to clean. The base unit just wipes clean, with no protruding buttons or difficult channels to clean out. The pitcher is also easy to rinse clean.
A big caveat: the reliability. I did not read the reviews here about the easily breakable plastic motor locking ring on the blender base until after my 30 day return period ended. So far, so good (I'm giving it a ***** rating based on my own experiences and am not going to let other reviewers' experiences change my score) but I really hope, knock-on-wood-fingers-crossed, that Cuisinart cured that defect by the time it got around to manufacturing my unit. It does have a heavy, very steady base and feels like a well made unit.
I hope I get many years of happy use out of my Duet, but will report back if I suffer the same problem that others have experienced.
EDIT 3/07:
Eventually, my Duet's blender unit failed, perhaps somewhat differently than others have reported. After about six years of frequent use, the black plastic gear ring on the bottom of the blender container that meshes with the drive unit in the base locked up on me and would not turn on the bottom of the blender, meaning the blade inside the blender to which it is attached would not turn. I contacted Cuisinart and bought a new one for around $10 or $12 shipped, took the old one off, installed the new one and in a few minutes had it running again good as new. I still really like the unit and think it is terrific. Spending a dozen dollars on a simple replacement part for an item we use so frequently is not unreasonable and I'm not lowering my score as a result of that temporary problem. In 2007 there are now a lot more higher end blenders available than there were when I bought this Cuisinart in 2001 and I'm sure some of them have even stronger motors and are slightly more quiet. However, this is still a very good unit and the hundred bucks I spent on it was money very well spent. Nowadays, I've seen this blender-food processor combo available for as low as half what I paid on sale and as low as fortybucks refurbished, so I doubt that there's anything on the market that is even close to being as good of a value.

Ideal for the casual cook4
Cuisinart BFP-703CH appliance is ideal for me. I use the blender once or twice a week and the processor 2 or 3 times a week. And I don't have a lot of storage space in my kitchen, nor the desire to own 2 motors when one will do both jobs. I bought this to replace a very wimpy Oster blender/processor combo and I am thrilled with it. The blender grinds through ice cubes in no time, and the processor has delivered consistently good results with a variety of foods.

The product design is excellent. The attachments fit securely onto the motor base without the need to twist or lock. The buttons are very easy to clean, and they have been thoughtfully arranged for ease of use. The motor unit is very compact, so it takes up about half the space my old Oster did. The glass blender jar is very sturdy and leakproof, but I wonder about the durability of the plastic processor attachment.

For a serious cook who deals with large quantities and frequent demands on an appliance, it's probably better to have separate pieces. But as a casual home cook for two, I love its design, efficiency, and power.

Blender - Small Personal Blender : PB 100 Review

This is a great blender!5
I like drinking a smoothie during lunch at the office, but don't want to cart around a icebox full of ingredients, or a giant blender... The Tribest Personal Blender is perfect because I could leave the motor base at work, and can bring the perfect amount of ingredients for my own smoothie in the cup! All I have to do, is put it on the base and let it blend! I get fresh smoothies every day at work! And I don't have to worry about making a mess, having too many or too little ingredients, or lugging around a bulky blender!

Don't believe anything bad about this product!5
This is the best, most beloved item in my kitchen!!!
I only wish I had bought the grinder and all the different cups (which I am going to now add on).
I read some of the other reviews---and at first I was also disappointed with this blender. Now that I have learned how to use it, I LOVE IT!!!
DO NOT put Protein powder into it first, it will get stuck in the bottom of the cup which you invert onto the blades (When you invert it, the bottom becomes the top). If you put liquid in first and then the powder there's no problem. You have to learn how to use it. You will want to put the frozen fruit in last if you are making something really thick.
I read the reviews here before I bought mine and a woman said hers was junk but I went ahead and read the rest of the reviews and decided to buy it. If mine breaks in a year, it will have been well worth the price. I use it every day and sometimes three times a day. On a hot day when I want something slushy and cold, I'll put in orange juice with some strawberries and ice---in a flash you have a refreshing drink. It's fabulous.
I could use my Cuisinart, but this blender is so easy and quiet by comparison. There are no buttons to push, you just fill the cup with your juice (I often add protein powder) and something frozen (Ice or frozen fruit) and screw on the lid (which have blades in it) and put it on the blending base and twist. You can either twist and pusle it, or twist and leave it to blend on its own. Then you take the lid off, rinse, and that's it.
I love hummus and I will never make it in the blender because you have to dig it out and most of it gets left behind. With this gadget, you fill the cup, blend it, then screw off the blade lid, screw on the refrigerator lid, and that's it. Nothing to scrape, just put it in the refrigerator. (Oh yes, you do have to rinse off the blade lid, that's the whole clean-up).
If you like frozen drinks or sauces you blend, this is a great gadget!!! I live in two places and I am getting another one for the other place, but I'm buying the complete set this time.

BlendTec HP3A Super Powerful Blender in Black - Brand New Review

Smooth operator5
I just got my BlendTec HP3A Super Powerful Blender today and I could not be more thrilled. However, to be completely honest, I did experience a few hiccups in the first few cycles when I initially (and gleefully) jam packed the hopper with ice, placed the lid on top and turned it on full blast. The incredibly high-speed blades virtually vaporized the lower cubes and kept the rest of the ice from falling down into the madly whirring blades.
As I washed out the finely powered snow and frightened ice I considered my next attempt. Perhaps a little discouraged, but undaunted, I stuck some whole carrots and cucumbers in the container and pressed various buttons trying to get it to do what I anticipated it should do and in the way I thought it should do it. It didn't.
So, a bit grumpy, confused and mildly frustrated, I read the manuals (Mac users rarely do this). A short time later, thus armed with pertinent, and essential operational information I confidently approached my new, white BlendTec HP3A Super Powerful Blender and found, once again, that all upsets are caused by a lack of communication. In this case, my upset could have been avoided if I had first taken the time to read the excellent and informative Blendtec Recipe Book (It's amazing how facile things become when you know what you're doing!).
Oh my god! This thing is sweet! Using the pulse and a touch of RO filtered water I made the best cucumber and carrot smoothie on the planet... and in seconds. Heck, I could have used a little hot water and had delicious carrot and cucumber and anything-else-I-wanted soup.
Inspired and greatly impressed, I went out and gathered a lot of the fabulous chickweed tops from my "garden" and made chickweed pesto with garlic, sunflower seeds, olive oil and Parmesan... Astounding, magnificent, awesome...
Then, from Bryan Au's "Raw in Ten Minutes" Raw Food In Ten Minutes: How to make the best Raw Organic Meals in just 10 Minutes!, I started with a quarter cup of water and made Pine nut, EVOO, turmeric and miso "cheese" and drizzled it over (potato peeler thin) slices of olive oil marinated raw yams... quite simply out-of-this-world amazing raw Mac and Cheese... and in just a very few minutes.
Cleanup could not be easier. Just rinse out the container and you are good to go. It's just that easy. No meticulous, laborious cleaning of all the parts, nooks and crannies found in other appliances like the GS-3000 juicer Tribest Green Star Juicer GS-3000 I use for green-leafy and wheatgrass juicing. The GS-3000 is still the best for high-quality wheatgrass juice but now I'll be getting all my fruit and vegetable juices plus the finely pulverized fiber, leaves, stems and seeds of the entire plant and all of it tastes unbelievably alive and delicious.
So, finally, this evening, elated after many joyous gastronomic experiments and culinary peak experiences, I sit here quite sated and completely satisfied. Enough so that I felt compelled to write this review. This blender has opened up infinite possibilities for creation of silky smooth preparations of fruits, nuts, berries and veggies all automatically blended to perfection in my Blendtec blender. I was a skeptic, and I certainly had my doubts, but now I'm a true believer.
I guess I could go on and on trying to explain what it felt like to experience all the exquisite flavors, creamy textures and high-tech capabilities of my Blendtec HP3A blender but that would be like standing on the back of a whale fishing for minnows. If you are into raw food preparation the Blendtec HP3A is an immensely powerful machine that will swing wide open the gates to a more vital and healthy world in ways you cannot possibly imagine, but will quite thoroughly enjoy.

Unbelievable5
I don't know what's up with the first reviewer of this product, but it would appear that he/she should just stick with a single speed blender. This BlendTec HP3A Super Powerful Blender is the most sophisticated, powerful and intuitive processing machine available. Somehow the reviewer did not read the manual (and with this level of sophistication you need to do so). I give it the highest rating for everything needing processing. You just need to learn how to use it.

Wowee - Fabulous Blender5
I did a ton of research and in the end I went by the recommendation from the Green Smoothie Girl [[...]]. Ever been to Jamba Juice? See those blenders? This blender looks just like theirs - it is a workhorse.
Clean up is really quick and easy. I read a lot of reviews and I am very happy with this blender.
The one bit of advice I'd like to offer new juicing folks is know that some of the greens are packed full of GREEN/GRASS flavor. Be careful not to add too much green and not enough of another color (fruit/veggies) - one of my first Green Smoothy tests - I tasted "GRASS" for days after ....blech!

Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome

Oster 4093 classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. With the exception of the dishwasher-safe glass container, all parts--including the plastic lid with its plastic 2-ounce measuring insert--require hand washing. The blender carries a one-year warranty against defects, and its instruction booklet includes dozens of recipes.

Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome Review

4th time's the charm5
I've burned through 3 other brands of blenders -- each time the plastic "spinner" in the motor base (which mates to a plastic spinner in the pitcher's base that turns the blade) broke. Finally we decided to try out the Oster "Classic" because it uses a metal shaft that fits directly into the pitcher's base to turn the blades rather than the plastic disks that all the newer blender designs seem to use. That does the trick. I make a lot of fruit smoothies using frozen fruit -- which can be pretty hard on blenders -- but so far the Oster Classic has been up to the task. I highly recommend it!

Simple does it best5
We bought this blender after a horrid experience with some Cuisianart mulit-speed blender that turned out to be a piece of ... Originally I was attracted to all the bells and whistles, but after all that leaked on the first pouring, I realized we had a problem, Houston.

After cruising the ratings here, we bought the basic, two-speed (read: go and pulse) GORGEOUS chrome beehive blender. Somehow we got the one that had the mini-jar for dressings, the food processor, and milkshake blade with chrome cannister, all for less than the Cuisinart Multi-Function Mistake. :)

Oster 4093 thing kicks. I've made dressings in it, and it was done with ease and they were blended well. Most importantly, I've made several batches of adult drinks involving ice, and as long as you add the ice a few cubes at a time, it turns out perfectly smooth (no ice chips hitting your teeth as you tip the glass).

I LOVE OUR OSTERIZER BEEHIVE BLENDER!!!! Simple is really all you need in a blender. If it's something that needs a bit of mixing, hit the pulse button as needed. If it's serious mixing, turn it on. In my opinion, speed 3, 6, and 9 are not required. This does it all, and looks MIGHTY fine while doing it. If only we had the counter space to leave it out.......it's SO pretty!!!!

Happy blending, anything!
Shinda

Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel Review

The best Christmas present I've gotten in years5
I've long been interested in having a really great blender. Something that will crush ice, puree soup, make smoothies for breakfast or snacks and of course blend up a nice margarita. :)

I looked at dozens of blenders, and finally chose the Waring bar model in stainless based on design, other reviews and power. The metal jar was also very important. I have always been afraid of breaking the glass on other blenders I have owned, and in fact have broken one.

This blender is just lovely. It is loud, but because it is so powerful and simply *works*, you don't have to run it very long anyway. There are no plastic buttons to get sticky and goopy. One *metal* switch and two settings are plenty.

Rather than the "turn to lock the jar in" method that most blenders use, this one drops in. You can't do it "wrong" -- it just won't go in if you have the canister turned the wrong way. The jar, which does need to be held steady with one hand, never kicks or bucks when crushing ice. You never feel like the machine is going to burn up or fly off the counter. And when you're done, you just grab the handle and lift it off, without fighting the locking mechanism -- because it doesn't have one.

The simplicity of design and use is a very big part of why I love this blender, but the fact that it's metal is a huge plus. It keeps the drinks cold, it washes out *very* easily, even when doing hot stuff that would instantly stick to the glass jars of most blenders.

My blender has never failed, never struggled, never even broken a sweat while performing any task I ask it to. It looks good, cleans easily and is easy to use. What more does anyone need in a blender? I can't think of a thing.

blender of the year5
A name you can trust and have trusted for years. This blender does it all. weather you need 1 drink or 10 drinks. Problems crushing ice with your old blender? Not this one. I go through pounds upon pounds of ice a night and this blender doesn't even slow up.

Waring Blender5
This blender has been completely satisfying. It crushes ice consistantly and thoroughly. My smoothies alwalys come out like silk. I use the blender several times a day, and the motor hasn't burned out. The steel adds a unique touch while leaving me fearless of broken glass. And, the warrenty that comes with it is a comfort in the event I have problems with the unit. I highly recommend this product for it's quality, distinctiveness, and dependability.

Oster 6684 12-Speed Blender, Black Review

Look no further. This blender is AWESOME!5
First, let me respond to a few poor reviews that made me a little concerned about purchasing this blender. One reviewer said "The little plastic "plug" in the lid fell through into the blender as I was using it". He may have gotten a defective one, but the one that I got would have no realistic way for the plastic "plug" to fall through the hole in the lid. It is very well made and would have to be forced VERY HARD for it to even have a chance of making it through - regardless of the angle at which you put the plug. Another reviewer said "the one I received had a jar that did not sit comfortably on base." Again, if that happened I hate it for that guy. The jar I got sat on the base quite well. Another reviewer said, "You CANNOT get your goods back out of this thing without making a mess." The blender I got is very easy to pour from.
Now let me tell you how awesome this thing is. I had a Hamilton Beach blender for a few years that did okay. It would make smoothies and shakes, but would take quite a while and would ALWAYS leave chunks of ice that did not get blended. Even if I left it on for a full minute it would not get the job done. When I used this new Oster 6684 for the first time I made a shake the way that I normally do with some fruit, milk, and ice. After about 10 seconds I could not find a single chuck of ice in the entire shake. In two years with my old blender there were always chunks of ice - always. I could not be any happier with the Oster. Hope this is helpful.

works well, but manfacturer makes it difficult to fix simple problem yourself4
I actually own the Oster 6646 but am writing the review here because the 6646 appears to be no longer caried by Amazon and the 6684 is simply the black version of the 6646.
First, the good: This blender does a very good job of blending ingredients, including frozen ones, into drinks of consistent texture. No lumpy pieces of fruit or bits of ice hiding in the drink. It also does a good job of pulling the ingredients down the side of the jar and around the blades so that everything gets blended properly.
Now, the bad: Shortly after my 1-year warranty expired, I turned on my blender one day and it abruptly turned off after about one second. I actually think this was my fault as I didn't have the jar seated quite right and I had some ice cubes at the bottom of the jar right by the blades. At any rate, to make a long story short I was left with the option to either (a) pay to get the blender repaired, which would have cost over half what one costs new; (b) throw the blender away; or (c) try to fix the thing myself. I had a hunch that perhaps I could find a fuse inside that had blown, so I attempted to take apart the blender. I tried A LOT of different screwdrivers, both at home and at work, and I could not get any of them to grip the screws properly to remove them. I took the blender to my local hardware store and, after a lot of patience, was finally able to remove the screws. While I readily found a fuse, the hardware store said they didn't have a matching replacement fuse. A little frustrated but still determined, I went to yet another hardware store; a seemingly knowledgeable clerk there told me that I would probably have a hard time finding the proper fuse because of the filament design, even though the fuse is labeled as a 5 amp 125 volt fuse. Still determined, I went to Radio Shack. Though they did not have a fuse that looked the same in terms of filament, the guy there assured me that a slow blowing 5 amp 250 volt fuse should work just fine. And guess what -- he was right. So now I have an additional three back up fuses in case it blows again, for a total out of pocket cost of less than 10% what a new blender would cost. Now my search is on for replacement screws so I can attach the bottom of the unit to the base again.
I guess I can't totally fault Oster for not making a consumer level repair more easy. I think this is true across the board for consumer electronics today. Still, I hate to think of all of the perfectly good machines out there that get tossed in the garbage and end up in a landfill (even though there are toxic components inside) that just maybe would be put back into service by the people who owned them if the manufacturer gave simple instructions for something as simple as replacing a fuse and didn't assemble the device so as to discourage people from trying to take it apart.

good blender5
I like this blender. So far I haven't had any problems. It's very easy to clean. I like the glass jar. The only downside to this product is that it's very noisy, but it does get the job done!

Hamilton Beach 54245 Deluxe 14-Speed Blender, Black

Hamilton Beach 54245 Deluxe 14-Speed Blender has exclusive patent-pending Wave-action blending technology for superior mixing & ice crushing power -with no leftover ice chunks. Powerful 700 watts of peak power , 48 oz Glass Jar , and extra long 3 year warranty

Hamilton Beach 54245 Deluxe 14-Speed Blender, Black Review

Wave Action Technology? Trust Me- It Works!5
Hamilton Beach 54245 Deluxe 14-Speed Blender Wave Action 14- Speed Blender is an excellent blending device and it ranks among the best small appliances I have ever purchased for several reasons. First among them is the size. When I went blender hunting on the internet, I insisted on finding a blender with a larger jar. My old blender held only 36 oz. and I discovered through experience that this size is much too small. I wanted something larger and this blender, with its 48 oz. glass jar, was exactly the size I was looking for. I also wanted more power and that is exactly what I got: A blender with 700 watts of force at its peak.
Next, I really like the stylish appearance of this blender. All of my new kitchen appliances are black in color and this appliance is no exception (it is also offered in white, for those who prefer it). Not only does the color make it look slick and attractive, it is also more slender in shape than the blenders of old. The base does spread out a little at the bottom but the overall shape tends toward the vertical, making it easier to fit into a small countertop space and also easier on the eyes.
Now for the most important factor: The blending ability. One of the reasons I selected this Hamilton beach model was because of its patented "Wave Action" technology. For those who are unfamiliar with this, it is a system that helps to blend drinks and other foods more thoroughly and efficiently via the design of the blades. Most blenders contain four blades that are more or less parallel to the countertop. But with Hamilton Beach Wave Action, two of the four blades are bent upward. This design helps to push ice and liquids down toward the blades for better blending.
I was skeptical about the claims made by Hamilton Beach at first but one use made an instant believer out of me. I started by mixing up a frozen drink- something that requires the ice to be crushed into tiny bits. This blender crushed the ice down to tiny particles in a matter of seconds. There was no need to stir the mixture by hand and try again, like with other blenders. The drink was completely mixed, smooth, and delicious. I could not detect even a single piece of ice that was too large. Every last bit of ice was crushed to perfection!
Overall, I am very happy with my Hamilton Beach Ensemble Model 54245 Wave Action Blender and I have no regrets about spending the extra money to obtain it. It not only looks good, it performs its main task with ease and perfection. Drinks come out silky smooth in a matter of seconds thanks to the Wave Action technology, making this Hamilton Beach Blender an appliance that I will continue to use and enjoy for a good long time.

Excellent and highly recommended blender5
I own the Hamilton Beach 54245 Deluxe 14-Speed Blender Black Deluxe Ensemble 14-Speed Power Plus Blender and I am very pleased with its performance. This blender has a blade-and-jar design (called wave action) that sucks the ingredients in for incredibly thorough blending, resulting in smooth, uniform consistency. It has a powerful (700-watt peak) motor that, combined with the wave action, yields excellent results. The motor carries a 3-year warranty. I use it mostly for ice shakes (usually the most demanding feature) and it crushes ice easily with no lumps left whatsoever. Its 48-oz glass jar secures easily on its sturdy base and is dishwasher friendly. Easy to clean and with no parts to assemble, this is my best blender to date. I highly recommend it.

FANTASTIC!5
We have owned several blenders, some average and some 'professional.' None come close to power of this one. First, you can tell by the weight of it that it is well built. Metal construction and very powerful. I put whole ice cubes in the blender and turned it on. (Only one speed with a pulse on that same speed). The ice turned to sluce before I could blink. I could not believe how fast it blended the ice. It is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for sheer power for making frostys or other ice crushing capabilities, this is the one. I would have given it 10 stars if I was able. You can not go wrong with this powerhouse!

Mmmmmmm...smoooothies.5
This is basically the smoothie-o-matic. My wife makes yogurt and fruit juice smoothies for the kids so they'll volunteer to get their protien and their vitamins. We filled the container with ice cubes, and then added orange juice and vanilla yogurt. I hit the switch for about 10 seconds and it was done. In fact, the ice was just about turned to water. Maybe I'll give it a second less next time.
The big rubber feet on this new model are helpful too as they help stabilize the unit. One thing though, when you first unpack and start using this thing, remember that those blades are mighty sharp!

I love my Duet, hope it's reliable5
I have been shopping for a new blender to replace my 1985 Osterizer, which has been leaving big chunks of ice in frozen drinks. I quickly returned the Oster unit because 1) It could not a crush ice in frozen drinks and was actually worse than my 17 year old, worn out blender - it's pretty hard to suck a 3/4" ice rock up a straw; 2) Did not circulate thick liquids well unless stirred with a spoon through the hole in the top cover; 3) It was loud as heck; and 4) the food processor attachment was nearly useless because it was very small, only had a chopping blade and had no feeder - you unlatch the processor, empty out the one cup or so of chopped food, put more food inside, re-latch the processor lid and put back on the blender base  Read More…

When the blending button is pushed on the Smart-Touch tec-nology digital touchpad, a preprogrammed cycle automatically speeds up and slows down to draw ingredients into the 29,000 rpm blade and thoroughly blend all the ingredients. It shuts off when the cycle is complete, so recipes will turn out perfect every time. The blending jar is our famous patented square jar design, just like our professional models used in U.S. coffee, juice, and restaurant chains, with a 32-ounce capacity and a one-year warranty. The patented two-prong stainless-steel blade carries a lifetime warranty. The blender has a powerful commercial-quality, 1,500 watt 3 HP direct-drive motor and comes with an ice-crushing guarantee and a three-year warranty on the motor and base. The Total Blender replaces these other kitchen appliances: Grain mill, juicer, bread machine, ice-cream maker, smoothie maker, blender, milkshake maker, coffee grinder, ice crusher. And it does the job better than the individual products, for a fraction of the cost. Material used : BPA free Copolyester.

Great blender, but buy hearing protection to go with it!5
This is an awesome blender. It blends stuff like you've never seen before and I am really pleased with it. But holy cow is it LOUD!! The cat hates me. I got a pair of earmuffs from the shooting supply place to wear while using it. Maybe overkill, but I think that using it twice a day without them would result in hearing damage eventually. I wish they sold an enclosure for this one like they do for the commercial ones....I'd definitely buy one.
I bought this because I had a juicer and liked it. But I felt that tossing all that pulp and fiber had to be making me miss out on a lot of health benefits. And just trying to spoon some of it back into the juice doesn't work, it's gross. This blender blends whole fruits and vegetables wonderfully, I can still get the fiber and in a drinkable form.
After I bought this, I read a webpage where they talked about blending an avocado WITH the pit, and I tried it. It works, I ended up with an amazingly smooth mousse-like creamy pudding. Not something I'd do every day, but it was very interesting. I have been making kale banana blueberry smoothies for breakfast and it blends everything into one homogenous shake. No bits of leaves, chunks of stuff, etc. I'm enjoying it. I just wish it wasn't so loud.

I make a lot of fruit smoothies using frozen fruit -- which can be pretty hard on blenders -- but so far the Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender has been up to the task.

This thing kicks.

Shinda
